ICC Level: Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli as top scorer in all three formats
ISLAMABAD - Pakistani star striker and captain Babar Azam is now superior to Indian rival Virat Kohli in the ICC rankings in all three types of cricket: ODI, T20I and Test.
Cricket fans have been comparing Azam to Kohli, especially after the first one played well a few years ago and was considered one of the best batsmen in the world.
India's Kohli is often regarded as one of the best cricketers in the world and widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers ever to walk the earth.
Pakistan's Azam team beat India by 10 wickets in a highly anticipated match between the teams on October 24 during the ICC T20 World Cup 2020. Azam and Kohli both scored half a hundred in the match. In the ICC ODI batting ranks, Pakistan's captain is the world's leading batsman, currently ranked first with 873 points. Kohli follows Azam in second place, with 844 points below his belt.
In the ICC T20I batting average, Babar Azam and England's David Malan sit in first place with 805 points shared. Kohli, on the other hand, fails to break even in the top 10 and is ranked 11th on the list with 657 points.
According to the latest ICC Men's Test Players ranking, Babar Azam is ranked 8th on the list with 750 points, while Virat Kohli who was taller than Babar Azam at number 7, has dropped two places below and is now ranked 9th in ICC Men's Test Players on the list table, by 747 points. Kohli's fall at number 9 on the table is due to his poor performance against South Africa in the Centurion Test when the former Indian ODI captain and captain of the T20I hit just 53 runs against the Proteas with a score of 26.50.
