Pakistan urges Spain to help curb the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is visiting Spain on an official visit, has called on Spanish leaders to take action to avoid the humanitarian crisis plagued by the Afghan war.

The Foreign Ministry released a letter on Thursday stating that Qureshi had negotiated with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares.

During the summit, Pakistan urged Spain to play its part in the European Union to participate in the interim Afghan government as the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan approaches, emphasizing that peace in Kabul is critical to regional stability and prosperity.

Meanwhile, Qureshi also shared his views on the current bilateral trade with the Spanish foreign minister. He highlighted major events and key aspects of bilateral relations marked by shared views on a variety of regional and international issues, including terrorism and the United Nations (UN) reforms.

The two sides also agreed to convene a fifth round of bilateral consultation (ABC) for effective co-operation. The PTI minister reiterated that Pakistan considers Spain to be an important and reliable trading partner within the EU.

Highlighting Islamabad's progress in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Action Plan, he emphasized that the continuation of the forum should not be politically motivated. He thanked Spain for recognizing Pakistan's efforts in the financial sector to fight terrorism and anti-money laundering.

In addition, he also conveyed the concerns of Spanish nationals of Pakistan who must renounce Pakistani citizenship in accordance with local law due to the lack of bilateral agreements between the two countries.

Mr. Qureshi also called on the Spanish government to review Pakistan's travel plans following a remarkable improvement in law and order.

Khozi FM visited Spain at the invitation of his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares. During his stay, he called his colleague, the presidents of the Spanish Congress of Deputies and Foreign Relations Committee, the Spanish trade minister and members of the Spanish parliament.
