Saqlain Mushtaq has resigned as interim coach of the Pakistani Cricket team
With a foreigner determined to join the Pakistani cricket team as head coach, Saqlain Mushtaq has stepped down as interim Pakistan coach.
Sources inside the PCB have confirmed that Saqlain is no longer associated with the national men's party.
Saqlain played the role of the T20 World Cup, a trip to Bangladesh and a home series against the West Indies. He was sacked by the PCB after the abrupt resignation of coach Misbahul Haq in September last year.
PCB chairman Ramiz Raja yesterday announced that an outsider would be appointed as the next Men in Green coach.
"I have discussed the future of the Pakistani team management with Saqlain, Babar Azam and Rizwan and the general idea is to include a foreign coach in the Pakistani team," said Raja. “I strongly believe that you need someone with local experience on the tour. But you also need regular trainers to maintain a good position in the net sessions. ”
“And I think we may not be able to give all the responsibilities to the Pakistani captain Babar Azam . He is the new captain and that is why we do not want to put pressure on him, ”he added.
