SnackVideo, Likee register with Pakistan's telecom sector regulator

Some telecommunications companies have registered with the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) for the first time under "Removal and Blocking of Illegal Internet Content (Procedure, Monitoring and Protection), 2021".

These companies include Joyo Technology Pakistan Pvt Ltd and BIGO Service Pakistan Pvt Ltd, better known as the popular Snack Video and Live / Likee video sharing apps, respectively.

According to a statement issued by the PTA on Friday, "key communications companies must register with the PTA" under the set of rules mentioned above.

The event was held at the PTA headquarters in Islamabad where registration took place, where the companies were awarded registration certificates.

The event was attended by the PTA chairman and members other than representatives of the newly registered companies.

The action was taken in a last-ditch effort to check the shared content in the video sharing apps and control any "inappropriate content" in the forums.
