Players must stay under strict bio-bubble rules as PSL 7 kicks off amid Covid fears
LAHORE - Pakistan's cricket board has stepped up its efforts to Covid ahead of next season's PSL national championship amid a rapid increase in Covid-19 cases.Local media reports have said all Pakistani Super League players will have to stay under strict bio-bubble rules next season.
As the fifth and sixth episodes of the Pakistan Super League were badly affected by Covid and players and staff discovered a novel virus despite being inside a biosecure bubble, officials now plan to create a unique ‘Bubble’ for each team within the bio bubble.
As per the new rules, players of different teams will not be allowed to work together after the spread of Covid fueled by the infectious variety of Omicron.
The last two programs were even suspended due to the epidemic but now the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not want any obstacles during the tournament.
Meanwhile, full accommodation has been reserved for the large seaside town of Karachi and one hotel resort has been dedicated to PSL players in Lahore.
Because of past experience, there will be separate elevators, hotel group restaurants while hotel staff will be part of the bubble.
Players participating in the event will begin arriving in Karachi on January 20 and the training will begin after a three-day break.
Reports say that if a person is found to have Covid, the entire hotel area will be inspected. The board also barred players from accompanying family members. The groups will be re-examined immediately for daily antigen while PCR tests will be performed every two to three days. Outdoor food will not be allowed as players used to order food from outdoor restaurants.
